I want to do the 90-day-trial with Xamarin - but I can’t !!

Hi all

I am trying to do the 90-day-trial with Xamarin.Forms under Visual Studio 2013.
Note: I am new to Xamarin, App-development and - unfortunately - also to c# (I am a vb.net-developer).

In four full days, I was able to setup the whole environment (Update VS2013 to Update 2, install Xamarin.Forms in VS2013, new MAC (my first touch with a MAC) and install Xamarin-Studio, Build-Host), create my first app based on the template Blank App (Xamarin.Forms Shared), run the app on IPhone, IPad, Android-Tablet and WP-Emulator).
I had problems from the beginning with the environment, but they are worse from day to day…

In about 3 weeks, I was able to customize the example app a bit for my needs.
E.G. I have implemented a call to our webservice and try now to display the data as needed.

As absolute newbie I know, that I need time to find an entry to Xamarin and the whole “app-environment”.
But.. I need more time to “shake the bugs” in the environment as to try Xamarin!

If the bug’s can’t be solved in the near time, I have to cancel the Xamarin-trial!

Practical example from today morning:

To do a test outside of my company (access web-service over phone-connection) I want to copy the app to my iphone (to test the app from home).

The MAC (and the Build Host on the MAC) were running overnight.
The ipad was connected on the MAC overnigtht.

In the morning:

Connected iphone to the MAC
The „image-loader” on the MAC was started automatically (so.. the device was recognized by the MAC)

Load VS2013 with project
Set the iOS-project as default
Build the iOS-Project
Under „Device“ there is only the ipad showed (not the iPhone although it is connected)
Closed and restarted Build Host on the MAC
Under „Device“ still only the IPad is showed
Select Ipad and start debug session…
Two error-messages from VS2013:

MT1006:Could not install the application '/Users/imacmatrix/Library/Caches/Xamarin/mtbs/builds/FormsTemplateiOS/fe8738dc-7e10-43f4-9090-4e6d98cca5c8/output/Debug/iPhone/FormsTemplateiOS.app' on the device iPad MATRIX Solutions AG: Failed to communicate with the device. Please ensure the cable is properly connected, and try rebooting the device (error: 0xe8000065 kAMDMuxConnectError).

Failed to deploy application to the iPad device

De- and reconnect iphone from MAC
The iphone appears under “Devices”
Select iphone as device and start debug session..
Error-Message on the iphone:
Trial: Trial executable has expired (24 hours limit) expired (although I have rebuild the project before)

Build iOS-Project once again

Start debug-session
VS2013 error message:

Connection to Xamarin.iOS Build Host failed. Double click here to attempt to reconnect/select a server.

Window „Connect to a Xamarin.iOS Build Host” is showed

At the same time, a second error-message in VS2013 is showed:

“Another instance of Visual studio is using the Build Host on 172.16.1.3. Double click here to select a new server.”

Close VS2013
Close BH on MAC and restart
Start Visual Studio and load project
Message in VS2013-Taskbar:
„Connected to Build Host on 172.16.1.3”

Under „Devices“ there is (once again) only the ipad showed
Click button „Refresh Build Server Info“
Under „Devices“ there is only the ipad showed

Start debug-session to IPad

Error-message on the ipad: Trial executable has expired (24 hours limit)

Cancel debug session
Rebuild whole project-map
Rebuild OS-Projekt
Start debug-session to IPad
Debug runs on ipad
Close debugging
IPhone is still not showed under „Devices“

Go to iphone and activate it manually
The app was loaded with a black (blank) screen - I think from the 24-hours error message)
Close the “black app” on iphone manually
In the meantime - in VS2013 under „Devices“ there are no devices showed (also not the ipad)

Click button „Refresh Build Server info“
VS2013 error-message:

Connection to Xamarin.iOS Build Host failed. Double click here to attempt to reconnect/select a server.

Window „Connect to a Xamarin.iOS Build Host” is loaded

CloseVS2013
Close and restart BH on MAC
Start VS2013 and load Project
Now also the iphone is showed under „Devices“
Set iphone as device
Start debug-session
The session run’s
Close debug-session
Select ipad as device
Start debug-session
Messages in the output-window (translated to English):

Not possible to connect the remote-server
**Server returned an error.

Remote build step failed

**Under “Devices” there are no devices showed
Start debug-session
VS2013 error-message

“Connection to Xamarin.iOS Build Host failed. Double click here to attempt to reconnect/select a server.”

This is no fake; this is 1:1 how it was today!

Sometimes (it seems randomly) additional error-messages are displayed, like “the version of the build-host is too old” and some other…
I also have troubles from time to time with the debugging to the android-tablet and to the WP-emulator (but with them, I can live as they come only from time to time)…

With the bugs to iOS, I cannot live!

How should I be able to do the Xamarin-trial under this circumstance..?
I have enough problems to find an entry in the app-development - I don’t need such f….. problems.

Can someone (really) help me please?!

As I wrote on top, I work with a trial-version…
Are these problems “only” related to the trial-version or does somebody with a bought license also have these problems?

I have installed the Xamarin.Forms-Version 1.2.2.6243 (under VS2013 Update 2)
I do not have installed the pre-update (1.2.3.6246) as I do not found any information’s in the release notes that addresses this bugs.

Question:
If the window “Connect to a Xamarin.iOS Build Host” appears, I always have two entry’s:
172.16.1.4 (that’s the correct IP of the MAC-machine in the network)
Imacs-iMac.local
-> Is this entry “normal”?
- If yes for what reason it is displayed?
- If no, how to delete it?

I have tried various “solutions” in the past weeks to solve the problem - including delete entry’s in the registry, unpair and repair.
The entry to Imacs-iMac.local allways is rebuild automatically

Thanks for any help
