getting the object in the Binding

I have a list which is driven by a collection of Person obejcts.

I can get the properties of a given person to show up (like name, age, etc) . like in the viewcell in my list.

however, I want to be able to access the person object itself. i.e. In this case, I'd expect to see the contents of my person object's tostring method - but I see nothing.
I ultimately want to have a widget like this.

how can I do this? been banging my head on it for an hour now
