Perhaps I am looking for love in all the wrong places, but I seem a little stuck at the moment attempting to update a ViewCell that is part of a MasterDetailPage menu system.
In short, I created a custom ViewCell that holds a "unread messages" count - kind of like what you would expect for an email app. The problem is that when the menu is activated (that is slide in from the left and shown), there appears to be no events that I can hook into.
The OnAppearing event fires during the construction of the page and never fired again. I can understand why this might be the case, but I can not find anyway to work around the issue short of completely resetting the Master property on the MasterDetailPage with a whole new fresh page which I would like not to do for performance reasons.
My only work around at the moment is to listen for the Tapped event at the ViewCell level and then hide the badge.
Any alternate ideas are welcome! Anyone know if this is better handled in the 1.3 preview?
