Hide toolbar button on MasterDetailPage

So, I wanted to use a custom renderer to add functionality that would allow me to hide the toolbar button that lets the master portion slide out, but (almost) all the functionality inside the MasterDetail page is private. The reason I want to do this is that at one point, there will be nothing in the master page, and once login is complete, I set the master page. The only ways I see possible is if the Forms team adds the ability to hide the master page (especially the toolbar button), or for the Forms team to expose some of the implementation of the MasterDetail page. Is there any plan for either of these, or does anyone know a workaround?
